Amy Mercury’s role as a craniosacral therapist allows her to observe your body's energy state. She helps you gain perspective on how your thoughts and beliefs impact your body. It is a truly unique process that celebrates your wholeness. Regain regulation and a sense of calm through craniosacral therapy!

In this episode:

  • Amy’s Journey to Craniosacral therapy

    • Amy struggled with debilitating migraines.  She saw doctors, mental health therapy, and tried medicines without success

    • Craniosacral therapy relieved her migraines and started her on her journey to learning craniosacral therapy and becoming a therapist herself

  • What is craniosacral therapy?

    • The body is a self correcting mechanism. It knows what it needs to do to get itself back into balance.  Craniosacral therapy works with this ability.  The therapist supports your body in making its changes

    • Supports structure and function.  Craniosacral work helps to restore optimal function

    • Supports the nervous system and cerebral spinal fluid.  Craniosacral therapy helps to regulate the signals that are being sent to instill calmness

    • Helps shift to the parasympathetic nervous system rather than the sympathetic.

    • It teaches the body to regulate itself

  • What to expect in a session

    • Most therapists are in person doing hands-on body work.  Amy does virtual sessions

    • Sessions might be relaxing or may raise some uncomfortable feelings.  It’s an opportunity to be aware, release, and take power back

    • Helps to give perspective on what you are feeling and reframe so that you can be empowered.  Being empowered is more supportive to our immune system.  The better we feel, the more positive higher vibrations we pull into ourselves. This puts less stress on the immune system and allows for healing.

    • We can control our thoughts and create new neural pathways (neuroplasticity).  Positive thinking creates a positive boost in neurotransmitters and teaches the body to respond in positive ways

    • The craniosacral therapist is a non judgemental observer seeing you in your unbroken wholeness. They observe and feel your energy from a non judgemental place

      • The observer creates change in your body just by being there.  They focus on wholeness which influences your body in becoming more whole

      • The therapist is accepting and ok with however you are right now.  They reflect back some observations to help support you on your journey.  They aren’t looking to change but accept where you are right now.  Each person’s point in their journey is perfect and is building you.

      • They support authenticity

      • The therapist helps to make you feel ok with where you are now.  Everything brings you to a point that will make you different in a more whole way.

  • The soul connection

    • Your soul is your higher self and has your best interests at heart.  When you don’t listen to your soul it will speak to you in a language you can’t ignore.

    • You can co-create using all the things that have happened to you to evolve

    • Letting go of frameworks and outcomes can help you be curious and evolve

    • You are in trust of your life, not in control.  When you let go of control you surrender to new ways of being.

  • How craniosacral therapy works

    • It works with energy.  Everything is made of energy.  It cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another

    • Craniosacral work allows for the change in energy

    • Observing the energy allows for reflections to change your awareness

    • Everyone is on their own unique healing path

  • Tips for maintaining your own energy and not taking on other’s

    • Manage what is coming in through keeping a calm environment

    • Cleansing baths, swims in the ocean, burning sage or beeswax candles

    • Controlling what comes into your mind through being mindful with media, reading, who you surround yourself with

    • Managing your thoughts

    • Recognize if the feeling is yours or something that you are taking on from someone else

    • Are you taking on someone else’s feelings and changing yourself to be more accommodating to someone else?

      • Setting healthy boundaries allows you to be you
